A small experiment for fun: a Mauritius ornate day gecko wanders through a paragraph, and the words make room for it as it moves. Click anywhere to send it there, or tilt your phone to slide it, and it might steal a letter.
The small visitor in these paragraphs is the Mauritius ornate day gecko, an endemic species found on Mauritius and nearby islets. It’s my favourite lizard, and a nod to what I do away from the screen: identifying local wildlife.
I’m Joshua, a Computer Science student at Middlesex University Mauritius and an independent developer.
I started web development at 14, learning the full stack, from the page you see down to the server and database behind it. For a long time it was just a hobby. Now it’s my work, and I still enjoy it as much as when I started.
At university, the parts I like most are how systems are actually put together and how computing gets applied in other fields. I want the things I build to bring value you can measure, not just look good in a demo.
AI is a useful tool, but a company that wants to stand out needs more than what everyone else can already generate. It needs someone who can think outside the box and who knows how the system underneath should work. That’s the part of the job I enjoy most.
In my free time I swim, read and play video games (puzzle games especially). I also like getting out into nature whenever I can.
